2003 Batch Graduate Drives Landmark 2.88 GWh Clean Energy Milestone at Geon
The Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET), Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), Indore, has always been a cradle of innovation, leadership, and technological excellence. Over the decades, its alumni have made remarkable contributions across industries, research organizations, government institutions, and entrepreneurial ventures. Adding yet another proud chapter to this legacy is Mr. Saurabh Jain, an esteemed alumnus of the 2003 Batch of IET DAVV, who has successfully led one of India's most significant clean energy infrastructure projects.
Currently serving as Chief Executive Officer – Energy Storage at Geon (Green Energy ON), Mr. Jain recently spearheaded the successful execution and commissioning of a 2.88 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Khavda, Gujarat—one of the largest utility-scale battery energy storage projects in the country. Remarkably, the entire project was completed in just five months, setting a new benchmark in the rapid deployment of large-scale energy storage infrastructure in India.
An IETian Leading India's Energy Transition
For the IET DAVV fraternity, this achievement is much more than an industrial milestone—it is a testament to the institute's enduring tradition of producing engineers who lead transformative initiatives with national impact.
The foundation laid at IET DAVV has enabled generations of graduates to excel in diverse domains, and Mr. Jain's professional journey is a shining example of that legacy. His leadership in delivering one of India's largest Battery Energy Storage System projects demonstrates how technical excellence, strategic thinking, and innovation can contribute to solving some of the country's most pressing energy challenges.
Strengthening India's Renewable Energy Future
The Battery Energy Storage System commissioned at Khavda forms a critical component of India's rapidly expanding renewable energy ecosystem. As the country accelerates its transition towards sustainable energy, battery storage has emerged as a vital technology for ensuring grid stability, efficient energy utilization, and reliable power delivery.
Under Mr. Jain's leadership, Geon successfully completed the complete scope of engineering, system integration, testing, and commissioning, including advanced Power Conditioning Systems (PCS), transformers, and sophisticated Energy Management Systems (EMS), within an exceptionally short timeframe.
Speaking on the achievement, Mr. Saurabh Jain remarked:
> "Successfully delivering the 2.88 GWh BESS Khavda project within just five months reflects meticulous planning, seamless coordination, and the dedication of our engineering and project execution teams. As India's renewable energy capacity grows, energy storage infrastructure will become increasingly critical in ensuring reliable and dispatchable clean power."
A Source of Inspiration for Every IETian
Every success story of an IET DAVV alumnus reinforces the institute's vision of creating engineers who are not only technically proficient but also capable of leading innovation and nation-building.
From classrooms and laboratories to boardrooms and national infrastructure projects, IET DAVV alumni continue to leave their mark across the globe. The achievements of Mr. Saurabh Jain serve as an inspiration to current students, demonstrating that the knowledge, values, and leadership cultivated at IET DAVV can open doors to extraordinary opportunities.
Whether in research, entrepreneurship, public service, advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, or emerging technologies, IETians continue to shape the future through excellence and innovation.
A Growing Legacy of Alumni Excellence
The success of alumni like Mr. Saurabh Jain highlights the importance of maintaining strong connections between the institute and its graduates. Their achievements not only bring pride to the institution but also inspire future engineers to pursue ambitious goals and contribute meaningfully to society.
As India advances towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy future, it is encouraging to see IET DAVV alumni playing pivotal roles in projects of national importance. Such accomplishments reaffirm the institute's reputation as one of Central India's premier engineering institutions, producing professionals who combine technical expertise with visionary leadership.
